Can anybody explain how Hugo Chavez, who is sufficiently alienated from the common man that he needs to use the military to break a general strike, is a populist? I mean, general strikes just don't work without the support of the common man. If he really has general support, why does he need the army to fill the jobs, instead of just hiring replacement workers?

First, the government coalition in Germany went back on its promise to not raise taxes. now it goes back on its pacifist stance on Iraq. I'd be uspest that on behalf of the German people, but the German people are the ones who rewarded Schroder's open anti-Americanism. May they suffer until the next election for it.
