Er, no.
First, Louis Chevrolet was born in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland. And second, he didn't build the Chevrolet. He was one of several engineers who worked for American-born entrepreneur W.C. Durant. Durant liked the guy's name and exploited it.
So, when it comes to Chevrolet, he wasn't French, and he didn't build the car.
