Google Yanks Media's Chain

In a press release, Google announced its new service, Gmail.  Here's the four relevant bits:

"Search is Number Two Online Activity – Email is Number One; "Heck, Yeah," Say Google Founders"

"April 1, 2004 UTC"

"Millions of M&Ms later, Gmail was born."

"And it turns annoying spam e-mail messages into the equivalent of canned meat."

So, who fell for this April Fools' joke?
