I dropped Dork Tower because of the gratuitous anti-Bush line thrown in at the end of a joke at VH1's expense.  I hope I won't have to do the same with Irregular Webcomic.   But I need to avoid the aggravation more than I want the entertainment.

On the MOO, the aggravation vs. the human contact is once again tilting too far toward aggravation.

Sorry to hear. I tend to avoid a lot of "entertainment" venues these days for similar reasons. A shame.

I respect you and I wish I still chatted with you, but I left the PyraMOO months ago, so it's kind of moot.

no offense, but if you drop everything that makes gratuitous anti-Bush lines, you're gonna be left with... well, not a whole lot of comics, TV, or radio to listen to.

I don't get it. Are you seeing some different Dork Tower than I am?

Last panel, "So, when Bush steals his fourth term, I'm all like so 'what up with that, be-atch?'" (http://archive.gamespy.com/comics/dorktower/archive.asp?nextform=viewcomic&id=903)

At which point my stomach knotted. "Bush stole the election" and "Bush is trampling the Constitution" compressed into one bit of throwaway dialogue only remotely connected to the rest of the comic.

Hmph. That was rather out of left field (no pun intended -- I think). Disappointing too. I used to find Dork Tower a lot of fun.

Come back to the MOO! I shall go elsewhere and talk non-politics things with you if it gets too bad.

For your information: I just yesterday made an Irregular Webcomic strip which jokes heavily at Bush's expense. However, it's not meant as a political comment. I'd be happy making jokes about John Kerry or Al Gore or Bill Clinton or John Howard or Mark Latham or Paul Keating or Tony Blair, or any other politican in the world if I thought I had a funny gag, regardless of what I personally might think of them.

I make jokes at the expense of Steve Irwin all the time. But I respect the real Steve Irwin - probably more than most of my readers. I make incessant biting jokes about Star Wars and George Lucas, yet I love Star Wars and I strongly believe that Lucas has every right to change his movies and people who complain about the changes should get some perspective and stop whining.

In short, I'll make fun of whoever I bloody well please.

The strip in question is #629. If you want to avoid looking at that particular strip, or decide right now not to read IWC any more, that's your decision. But I'd think less of you for not being able to take a joke that is simply that, a joke, and not intended to be a political comment.
