Mr. Steve Bell said, as to why he'd run satirical cartoons of George W. Bush but not of the Prophet Muhammad: "Sometimes you want to offend. But you target the powerful, not the weak"
An interesting comment from Mr. Bell. So let's see:
STRONG: Unable, due to various constraints, to take violent action against you for offending them.
WEAK: Able to take violent action against you (see Theo Van Gogh), your countrymen (see the attacks on Danes), and random people on the street (see the Christians killed in Nigeria) for offending them.
It may, of course, be honest conviction that motivates Mr. Bell. But isn't it convenient for Mr. Bell that his convictions drive him to only offend people who won't shoot and stab him as he goes about on the street?
